LIFE conference in Croatia: Green Energy Transition

November 16, 2022

What: LIFE conference

Where: Osijek, Croatia

When: 15th of October 2022

LEST representatives Edin Lakić and Tomi Medved attended the LIFE conference in Croatia organized by Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology (FERIT) Osijek. The main question of the event was “Where does Croatia appear on the map of green economies?”

After the good practice examples presented by the companies and institutions A1 Croatia, MICO, Green Energy Cooperative and Faculty of Electrical Engineering from Ljubljana, an interesting panel discussion on the topic of green energy transition started, with the participation of Ivo Milatić, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, prof. Šljivac Damir, head of the FERIT, Jurica Perko, head of Business Development at the North Regional Energy Agency, Ivica Jakić, president of Croatian Hydrogen Association and Tomi Medved, head of the Laboratory of energy policy from University of Ljubljana (UL).

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering (UL) presented innovative solutions for integrating renewables into the overloaded low voltage grid, using the example of the H2020 COMPILE and X-FLEX projects and the Luče village energy community. These solutions allowed the integration of solar power plants above the standard allowable values, which, in combination with domestic batteries and a common battery next to the transformer, increases their generation by 180%.
