The amended Electronic Communications Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 109/2012) brings new rules regarding cookie-usage and similar technologies for the storage and access to information, stored on users computers or mobile devices.

What are cookies?

Cookies are short text files that are uploaded onto your computer, tablet or mobile phone when you visit a website. Cookies are stored in the browser folder on your computer. Next time you visit a website, browser reads the cookie and forwards the information to the website and other cookie placement elements.

Cookies can be used to collect information on how users browse a website, and can thus adapt the contents of the website to users interests when they browse the same website in the future, ensuring the best user experience. A cookie usually contains a string of letters and numbers that are stored on users computer when they visit a certain website. Each time a user visits the website, the latter is notified of the stored cookie, thereby enabling anonymous recognition of the user.

Types of cookies

Strictly necessary cookies allow you to use the page and its essential features. Without them services you’ve asked for, such as registration, safety, etc.) will not function.

Performance cookies collect information on how visitors use a website with the purpose of improving their user experience. These cookies do not collect information that identifies a visitor.

Functionality cookies allow the website to remember your settings and choices you made (user name, language, region, etc.) and provide enhanced, personalized features. These cookies may track your actions on the website.

Targeting cookies are related to third-party services, such as the “Like” and “Share” buttons. These cookies may track your actions on the website. They are managed and hosted by third parties.

Why do we use cookies?
