From 20th to 27th August 2022, the Energy Community in cooperation with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Dialogue Southeast Europe, Faculty of Political Sciences and the Visegrad Fund organised its 6th Summer School in the city of Sarajevo. Our colleague Mr. Matej Pečjak, researcher and PhD candidate from LEST, took part in this intensive week of lectures delivered by experts from different fields and actors of the energy transition in Europe.

The first day was dedicated to social activities, a visit to the War Tunnel, the Doljanka river with a small hydropower plant and the Podveležje wind farm. Later in the week, participants had the opportunity to hear from knowledgeable and skilled speakers on the technical and economic challenges for electricity and gas, as well as the political and legal aspects of the energy transition. The red thread of the event was the Green Transformation and the tools for its implementation, such as the Green Deal and the REPowerEU Plan.

LEST would like to thank the Energy Community Secretariat and its partners for organising this amazing week and giving such a great opportunity for young energy professionals to connect with each other and spark off innovative and forefront discussions on the future of energy sector!
