INTERNSHIP: NICOLE BIRD
Nicole Ashley Bird joined LEST in August 2021 for a 6-months internship.
Nicole comes from the US and is pursuing a master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Science at Reykjavik University with a focus on economics, sustainable engineering and energy policy. For her master’s thesis, she is researching energy communities in collaboration with LEST on the COMPILE project, in which she will be researching the topic “Analysis of the concept of self-sufficiency of RES of the local energy community of Luče.”
Under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Andrej Gubina and senior researchers Tomi Medved, PhD, Nicole will be examining factors that influence the self-sufficiency of an REC as well as performing a sensitivity analysis to determine the optimal structure of an REC to achieve self-sufficiency, using the COMPILE pilot site Luče as a case study.
