Between July 8th and 12th, Joanneum Research from Graz, under the leadership of Andreas Türk, MBA, organized the 3rd summer school on the topic of energy-positive districts. The summer school took place as part of Annex 83 and the European project EXCESS. Representing LEST, researcher Jernej Jozič participated in the intensive week-long event, where he became acquainted with positive energy districts (PED) through various lectures and workshops.
The international diverse participation of lecturers and attendees at the summer school gained closer insights into the EXCESS project and various energy concepts throughout the week. In addition to positive energy districts, participants were also introduced to other topics such as building energy resilience and flexibility, PED certification, energy communities and their connection with PED. The topic of economic models from the EBENTO project, in which LEST is also actively involved, was also presented.
As part of the summer school, participants visited one of the four pilot sites of the EXCESS project, where they learned about innovations in the field of building energy renovation.
During the evenings throughout the week, social gatherings were held where participants got to know the local culture and established connections that might lead to future professional collaborations.
