On Wednesday, October 16, a researcher from LEST attended an expert discussion organized by the Slovenian electricity market operator Borzen. The main topic of the conference was the new network tariff system and its impact on the integration of renewable energy sources (RES) into the grid.

In his opening speech, Mr. Borut Žnidarič, a representative of Borzen, welcomed all participants. The program continued with a presentation of current legislation updates, prepared by Mr. Erik Potočar from Ministry of the environment, climate and energy (MOPE). Following this, Borzen’s RES Info Point, established last year to assist investors in the construction of RES, were introduced. Current RES support schemes were also presented, with audience members calling for more effective support for investors at the start of their projects.

Subsequently, various speakers from both industry and research institutions presented their studies and work on network tariffs and energy management. The event concluded with a presentation by Mr. Janez Podlipnik from HERMI, who showcased their work on protecting RES from lightning strikes. In his presentation, he highlighted examples of both good and poor practices, attributing the latter to the involvement of inadequately selected installers of RES.
