Progress at the 4th EBENTO Project Meeting in Graz

November 7, 2024

What: 4th EBENTO Project Meeting

Where: Graz, Austria

When: 5-6 November 2024

At the beginning of November, the fourth EBENTO project meeting took place in Graz, Austria, marking an essential step for progress in the final months before project completion. The meeting with all partners was intensive and productive, with numerous interactive discussions and exchanges.

As research partners, our laboratory has been involved in exploring and evaluating new business models for energy performance contracting, which form an important part of the “one-stop-shop” (OSS) platform developed within the EBENTO project. This platform is one of the project’s final products, designed for a broad range of users, including the public and residential estate managers. It provides access to information on the current state of the housing stock and other key data for building renovations. The platform combines tools to identify potential improvements in energy efficiency in the housing sector, offering optimal financial schemes and providing users with secure investment options for new energy efficiency solutions. The technical side of the platform is specifically tailored for ESCO providers, as it allows for precise calculations to support decisions on renovations and economic analysis of projects.

Within the platform a dynamic 3D map has already been developed for the city of Valencia, demonstrating the system’s functionality. By the end of the project, additional dynamic maps will be developed for the pilot cities of Tallinn and Manchester.

We are currently in the final phase of defining the project’s key performance indicators, which will help us evaluate the developed solutions and approaches and test them in the pilot countries.

At the end of our meeting, we attended the closing event of the EXCESS project, coordinated by our research partners at JOANNEUM RESEARCH. The EXCESS project focuses on developing energy-positive buildings and transforming residential communities into energy-efficient neighbourhoods across four European countries. Their results and experiences offer valuable guidance for the EBENTO project as it enters its final stage, requiring clear direction.
