On February 12th and 13th, the Community Mobility Cooperatives project officially launched with a kick-off meeting held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia and led by the Laboratory of Energy Policy. This important event marked the beginning of an exciting initiative aimed at advancing shared E-mobility solutions across Southeast Europe.
The project, part of the European Climate Initiative (EUKI) launched by The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), brings together key partners from Slovenia, Romania, North Macedonia, and Serbia. The project is led by the Laboratory of Energy Policy, Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana (UL) in collaboration with Korimako (Slovenia), Energy Cities Romania (OER) (Romania), Platform for Energy Transition (Serbia) and SmartUp – Social Innovation Lab Skopje (North Macedonia).
About the Project
The Community Mobility Cooperatives project focuses on accelerating the transition to cleaner, more equitable, and low-carbon mobility in Southeast Europe. By establishing Community Mobility Co-operatives and integrating shared electric vehicle (EV) fleets and community-led charging infrastructure, the project aims to provide a socially driven alternative to private car ownership. This initiative will test, develop, and scale cooperative mobility models, ensuring both long-term sustainability and community benefits.
Kick-Off Meeting Highlights
The two-day kick-off meeting brought project partners together for both a physical gathering and fruitful discussions. The event began with introductions and team-building activities, followed by a thorough overview of the project activities. A key component of the meeting was a brainstorming workshop focused on stakeholder engagement strategies, where partners collaborated to define the best approaches for involving communities and other key players in the project. The team also outlined the next steps for the coming months, ensuring that everyone is aligned on the project’s direction and objectives.
