Views from the future at the conference Sustainable energy local
What: Conference Sustainable energy local
Where: Ljubljana, Slovenia
When: 25th of September 2025

On Thursday, September 25, a conference was held at the Mons Hotel in Brdo near Ljubljana, organized by the Slovenian electricity market operator Borzen, focusing on the future of the energy sector. The conference presented various aspects of energy and pathways for the green transition. It covered topics such as transport, support schemes for renewable energy sources (RES), RES legislation, and hydrogen as an energy carrier of the future.
Two round tables were also held, the first with mayors of Slovenian municipalities that are among the most advanced in the green transition, and the second with experts in the field of energy.
Of particular note was the presentation by Darko Trajanov from the Transport Policy Directorate, who outlined plans for electrification and the green transition of transport in Slovenia in the coming years, while also presenting real figures and the current state of the Slovenian motorway network.
The first-round table followed, where municipal representatives discussed their measures in the field of local green transition. The Mayor of Ajdovščina spoke mainly about hydrogen, which the municipality is actively engaged with. The Mayor of Radlje ob Dravi presented their local project Fura, while the representative of the Municipality of Kranj spoke about their path to climate neutrality by 2030.
In the second part of the conference, hydrogen was the main topic; it was addressed by a representative of the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley project and a representative of the company Plinovodi d.o.o. In the final stage of the conference, a round table took place with Dr. Violeta Bulc and Mr. Aleksander Mervar, who impressed the audience with their insightfulness and sincerity.
At LEST, we would like to thank our business partner Borzen for excellently preparing the conference, which undoubtedly addressed key and timely challenges in the energy sector.
