11th PV Conference at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering
What: 11th PV Conference at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, UL
Where: Ljubljana, Slovenia
When: June 18, 2025

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the 11th PV Conference was held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. The conference was traditionally organized by the Laboratory for Photovoltaics and Optoelectronics under the leadership of Dean Prof. Marko Topič. The event took place in the faculty’s large lecture hall and was officially opened by Prof. Marko Topič. Following the opening remarks, Dr. Uroš Merc spoke, and then the speakers followed in three sections.
In the first section, titled Photovoltaics and Slovenia’s Sustainability Goals, a presentation by HSE on the floating solar power plant Družmirje was highlighted. Simon Čižmek discussed the plans and challenges of integrating the power plant into the environment. In addition to him, Iztok Gornjak (Borzen) gave an interesting presentation on support schemes and a contact point that advises investors and assists in obtaining subsidies and permits.
In the second section, LEST was also actively involved, as one of the speakers was the laboratory head, Tomi Medved, PhD, who presented the market value of PV and possibilities for future development. During his presentation, Medved addressed the issue of solar cannibalization, emphasized the importance of self-consumption and the coupling of solar power plants with batteries, and pointed out changes in trends on the electricity market in the future.
After lunch, the final session of lectures focused on energy communities.
We can conclude that the conference once again offered interesting presentations, opinions, and knowledge in the field of solar energy. On this occasion, we would like to thank the Laboratory for Photovoltaics and Optoelectronics for organizing the conference.
